Northeast Youth Hockey Association Assessments 2018

Why do you do assessments?

Players are placed on the team / level at which they assess. This is to ensure a safe and positive experience for the player as well as the other members of his or her team. Assessments also allow the association to determine what level of play to register the team for.

My son or daughter is a goalie.  How do we assess?
For Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam teams please consult the schedule for appropriate times for Goalie Assessments.

For which team should my child assess?

All players looking to participate in assessments for one of the travel teams will be required to participate in the mandatory assessments within their 2017 age-appropriate groups.

Travel Team Skater Age
Mite 5 - 8
Squirt 9 - 10
Peewee 11 - 12
Bantam 13 - 14

What is the assessment fee?

2018 Assessment fee is $50 per skater.

How will my child be placed?

All team placements will be based on the assessment results.

What should I do after I receive notice of team placement?

All current skaters will be notified within 3-4 days of assessment of team placement by a coach or coaching director.

New skaters: will have 48 hours to submit commitment letter and associated fee

What should I do if my child is too ill to skate or an emergency arises?

If the skater misses assessments due to a special circumstance (e.g., an injury, medical condition, family emergence, or other unforeseen emergency) with board approval he or she may skate at a makeup assessment. After he / she has been assessed the board will approve based on coaches’ recommendation. The player must have pre-registered to qualify for special circumstance.
